Custom taper candle boxes for long, thin dinner candles, sold singly, in pairs or in sets. Slotted inserts keep each taper straight and apart so wicks don’t bend and wax doesn’t scuff, with printed kraft, SBS or rigid board to match your brand.
Your time is very important to us so we have kept it short.
Tapers are long, thin and surprisingly easy to ruin. Drop a loose pair into a bag and the tips chip, the wicks fold over, and if they rub against each other the colored wax picks up dull scuffs. Custom taper candle boxes are made long and narrow on purpose, with something inside to keep each candle in its own lane.
Candle makers selling dinner candles in pairs, church and ceremony suppliers, and wedding vendors with sets of colored tapers make up most of our orders here. The goal is always the same: get the candles to the table looking as straight and clean as they did when they came off the dipping rack.
Dinner tapers? Usually 10 to 12 inches long with a base of about 7/8 of an inch, which is what standard holders take. We’d add roughly half an inch to the box length, so the wick has room but the candle can’t go sliding end to end every time someone tilts it, and when you measure, go for your longest taper, wick and all. Two pairs from the same batch can differ by a few millimeters, so give us the longest one.
For pairs, a slim tuck end box with a card divider works well. For sets of four, six or twelve, a flat box with a slotted insert keeps every taper parallel. Our candle box dimensions guide covers common taper sizes if you’re still working out the range.
Wax is soft. Even hard paraffin or beeswax marks when two candles roll together for a few days in a delivery van. A die-cut card insert with a slot or cradle for each taper stops that completely. Ours are usually printed to match the box, so when the lid comes off the inside still looks finished.
Heat is the other worry. In summer, a box sitting in a hot mail truck can soften tapers enough to bow if they aren’t supported along their length. The insert helps here too, since it holds them straight while they’re warm. More insert options sit on our candle boxes with inserts page.
Beeswax and hand dipped tapers look right in kraft. We’d say that every time. Got a dozen colors that each need their own label? SBS with matte lamination, it prints color nice and sharp, and for wedding sets and gift packs we’d go rigid board, lift-off lid, a bit of gold foil (people keep those boxes on a shelf for years).
Windows show off colored wax really well. Keep it a skinny one, mind you, or the long box gets floppy in the middle. Like round better? Our candle tube packaging takes a single taper nicely.
Minimums are low, often around 50 boxes depending on the style, and the per-box price drops as quantities go up. The team sets up the dieline and lays out your artwork free, checks your files for print issues, and sends a digital proof. A physical sample is available on request before the full run, which is worth doing on any slotted insert.
Standard production is 10 to 12 business days after proof approval, and ground shipping is free anywhere in the USA. Browse the rest of our candle packaging boxes for jars and pillars.
It can, but the shorter ones will slide unless the insert grips them. Separate box lengths usually look better and cost very little extra at the same quantity.
Uncoated kraft can leave faint marks on soft wax over time. A coated insert, or tissue wrap around each taper, avoids that.
Yes. We can add a compartment for small holders or matches beside the slots, as long as we have the dimensions of each piece.
