Boxes sized to your candle jar, glass or tin, with inserts that keep the jar off the box walls and the lid in place. SBS, kraft or rigid board, printed with your scent and burn details. Low minimums, free design help and free ground shipping in the USA.
Your time is very important to us so we have kept it short.
The jar is the expensive, breakable part of your candle, and it’s also the part that rolls. Custom jar candle boxes are built around one container, whether that’s an 8 oz tumbler, a 10 oz straight-sided glass or a squat tin, so it can’t move far enough to crack or chip the rim. The box then carries the name, the scent notes and the burn time on its outside.
Most of our candle customers sell online and at markets, so their boxes have two jobs. Survive a parcel van. Look good on a craft fair table.
Lid on. Always measure with the lid on, because wooden lids and dust covers can add a quarter inch or more and a box cut to the bare glass just won’t close (we’ve seen it happen more than once). Our habit is to make the inside a few millimeters bigger than the fattest part of the jar and let the insert soak up the rest so it doesn’t rattle.
If you’re working with a common size like a 10 oz jar, our post on the standard size for a 10oz candle jar box gives a good starting point. For unusual shapes like apothecary jars or footed glasses, send us a sample and we’ll build the dieline around it.
A tuck end box in SBS paperboard is fine for a jar going straight onto a shop shelf. Once you’re shipping, add an insert. A simple card collar around the jar keeps it centered, and a die-cut base stops it sliding. For multi-jar sets we cut a divided insert so the glasses never touch each other (glass knocking on glass is how most breakage happens, not drops).
Heavy jars, three-wick candles especially, are better in E-flute corrugated or in a rigid box. Rigid board also makes sense when the candle sells as a gift and the box is part of the price. For more on that, see our candle boxes with inserts and luxury candle boxes.
Shoppers pick up a candle box and turn it over looking for three things: the scent, the burn time and the size. Put those where they can find them. Scent name on the front, notes and burn time on a side panel, wax type and safety warnings on the back. Pretty wax color? Cut a little window in one side.
Candle people mostly ask us for soft-touch with gold or silver foil, maybe some embossing, though for a natural soy line we’d honestly just do kraft with one ink color and leave it there. Our inks are soy-based or water-based, and most of the kraft and corrugated stuff is recyclable. Oh, and fragrance oil. It weeps a bit in a warm shop in August and will stain bare board, so a light lamination is worth it.
Our designers set up the dieline and your layout at no extra cost, and check your files before printing. You’ll get a digital proof, and a physical sample if you want to test the fit with a real jar. Minimums are low, often around 50 boxes depending on the style. Standard production is 10 to 12 business days after approval, and ground shipping is free across the USA. More styles are in our candle packaging boxes category.
For shelf sales, often not. For shipping, yes, a simple collar or base insert stops the jar from moving and cracking.
Only if they’re close in size. A collar insert can make up a small gap, but a big gap means the lighter jar will move.
It will if you measure with the lid on. Send us the total height and the widest diameter and we’ll size it from there.
Brands ordering these often look at custom rigid candle boxes, candle tube packaging, luxury candle boxes and custom taper candle boxes as well. You can see the full range in custom candle packaging boxes, and our guide to candle box dimensions helps with sizing.
