Rigid board boxes wrapped in printed paper, with flat magnets hidden under the wrap so the front flap snaps shut by itself. We make a lot of these for jewelry and skincare sets, candles too, and corporate gifts where the box should feel heavy when someone picks it up.
Your time is very important to us so we have kept it short.
Clack. That’s the sound a magnetic lid makes when it drops shut, and you can feel the flap kind of pull itself home under your fingers. Honestly that little moment is most of why people order custom magnetic closure boxes, and why our jewelry and watch customers (the skincare set folks too, and anyone doing gift bundles) keep reordering them.
Underneath the print is rigid greyboard, thick, and a couple of flat magnets sit inside the flap and the front wall where nobody sees them. No tabs. Nothing to tear. Nobody fumbling with a ribbon. It opens the same way the hundredth time as the first, and since it’s sturdy, people hang onto it for earrings or cables or whatever long after your product’s used up.
We cut the base and lid from rigid board, wrap them in printed paper (or a specialty stock if you want texture), and set the magnets in before the lining goes over the inside. Where the magnets go is the fiddly bit. Off by a hair? The flap shuts crooked, or it just sort of hovers and doesn’t catch, which is why we match the magnet size to the flap and test the pull on a sample.
Most people order book style, hinge at the back and a flap that folds down over the front. There’s also a full lid that lifts and swings back. Short on shelf space? Our collapsible magnetic boxes arrive flat and pop into shape in a few seconds, and that’s a lot of room saved in a small studio.
Heavy box, loose product. Feels wrong, right? It rattles. So pretty much every magnetic box we make goes out with an insert of some kind, maybe a foam cutout for a watch or a card riser under a candle jar, or a fabric-wrapped tray with three slots for a skincare set. Watch the height, though, because an insert that’s a few millimetres too tall stops the lid closing flush and then the magnets are fighting it all day long (we’ve seen that one).
Mail us the product, or exact measurements with the heaviest piece marked, and we’ll work out the insert together with the box. Dieline setup and artwork layout cost you nothing.
The wrap is the entire outside, so finish matters more here than on a folding carton. Soft-touch is the one people stroke without thinking. If you want the safe, classy pick, it’s matte with a gold foil logo, and we’d add an emboss or deboss on the lid if you want depth without more ink. Louder brand? Holographic foil, or spot UV over a pattern. Both look great.
Print the inside if the budget stretches. A line under the lid gets read by literally everyone who opens it. There are more gifting ideas in our luxury and rigid packaging range, and the gift box sizes guide helps when you’re stuck on dimensions.
You don’t need a huge run, minimums are often around 50 boxes depending on the style, and each box costs less as the quantity climbs. We send a digital proof before anything prints, plus a physical sample if you ask, which we’d really push for when there’s a custom insert involved. Then it’s 10 to 12 business days of production after approval, and ground shipping is free anywhere in the USA. Request a quote with your sizes and we’ll go from there.
Jewelry, cosmetics, candles? No. Packing anything with a magnetic strip, or a compass, let us know and we’ll put the magnets well away from it or suggest another closure.
It’ll make it through a courier trip, but the wrap picks up scuffs, so most brands slip it into a plain mailer first.
Pretty close. Same magnets, but the walls fold instead of being glued, so there’s a touch more give.
