Strength in milligrams, bottle size, serving size, ingredients, batch code, the QR code to the lab report, your logo, and then some sense of who you actually are as a brand. That’s a lot to fit on a box about the size of a deck of cards. Custom CBD tincture boxes have to carry all of it and still look calm and trustworthy on a shelf crowded with other droppers.
Most of our CBD customers are small brands selling on their own site and through wellness shops and pharmacies, and the box itself is rarely what they struggle with. It’s the layout. Too much text and you’ve got a medicine label, too little and nobody can tell your 1000mg from your 500mg at a glance.
Almost every tincture bottle is glass with a rubber bulb dropper, and the 30ml one is by far what we see most. Measure it with the dropper on. The bulb adds height, and people forget that all the time, so a 30ml bottle ends up in a box somewhere around 1.5 by 1.5 by 4.5 inches, give or take, since some bottles are squatter and some are taller.
Shipping straight to customers? Add an insert. A simple neck insert grabs the bottle by the shoulder so it can’t tip or bang the bulb into the lid, and for gift sets (a tincture plus a balm, say) we’d do a die-cut tray with two or three slots.
Strength first, and big. Shoppers look for that number before anything else, so a colored band or a different box color for each strength helps a lot, while the logo and product name stay the same across the whole range. Only the strength changes.
CBD labeling rules differ by state and they change a fair bit, so run your artwork past your own advisor before you sign off (our CBD oil packaging guide for US labels is a decent place to start). One trick we like. Leave a blank patch for batch numbers and expiry dates and add them with a stamp or sticker, because then one print run covers a few production batches and you’re not reprinting boxes every time a new lot comes back from the lab.
We’d usually go SBS paperboard, it’s bright and holds tiny text cleanly and folds up into a nice square box. Plant-forward brand, earthy vibe? Kraft with one or two ink colors looks great. And for a top-shelf line a rigid box with a foam insert feels heavier, more like a gift.

Not really. A 60ml bottle is quite a bit wider and taller, so two sizes with matching artwork will look way tidier on the shelf.
Side or back, right next to the batch number, so people can match it to their bottle. Keep it about three quarters of an inch wide or bigger, or phones struggle.
