Blister Packaging For Toys

Clear plastic blisters sealed to a printed backing card, shaped around your toy so it sits still on a peg hook and shoppers can see exactly what they get. Good for action figures, die-cast cars, small play sets and collectibles, with free design help on the card.

Description

Kids point. Parents grab it off the hook and turn it over. Blister packaging for toys is kind of built for that moment, a clear plastic bubble pressed around the toy and sealed to a printed card so whoever’s standing in the aisle can see the thing before they pay, and that’s why you see it on pretty much every action figure, die-cast car and slime kit out there (collectible minis too).

Toy makers usually come to us when stock packaging doesn’t fit. A generic clamshell leaves a figure rattling around with its arms bent and the accessories lost in a corner. A custom blister holds every piece exactly where you planned it.

Blister Packaging for Toys on a Peg Hook

Most toy blisters hang. The card has a hole punched at the top (a round hole or the sombrero-shaped euro slot), and the weight has to balance under it or the pack hangs crooked and looks a bit sad on the wall. Keeping heavy parts low on the card helps. If your toy is front heavy, we may suggest a slightly deeper blister toward the back to pull the center of gravity in.

Card stock matters here too. A thin card bends under a heavy toy and the hang hole tears. A thicker SBS card holds up much better through shipping and a few weeks of shoppers picking it up and putting it back.

Shaping the Toy Blister Around the Product

The plastic is thermoformed over a mold made to your toy’s shape. On an action figure we’d normally do one main cavity for the body and little pockets for the extras, otherwise the sword ends up wedged behind the head by the time it reaches the store. How much room? A tiny bit. If the blister’s loose, a painted face rubs on the plastic the whole truck ride and shows up scuffed, and trust us, collectors notice that from across the shop.

For bigger sets, or collectors who want to open and close the pack without wrecking it, a slide card or clamshell can be the better build. Our action figure blister packs page shows the collector style in detail, and blister card packaging covers flat card formats for smaller items.

The Backing Card Does the Selling

Front: character art, logo, product name and age grading. The back gets the contents list, warnings, barcode and (we always push for this) a lineup of the rest of the series, because collectors flip the pack over almost as often as they stare at the front. Busy art? Go for it. Blister packaging for toys is one of the rare places a loud card works, the plastic bubble gives your eye somewhere quiet to land.

Our team sets up the card artwork for free and checks where the blister lands, so key art isn’t hidden behind the plastic or cut by the heat seal. You get a digital proof, and a physical sample is available on request. Browse custom blister packaging for other formats, or toy packaging boxes if some of your line is too big to blister.

Toy Blister Packaging FAQs

Can collectors open the pack without wrecking the card?

Heat-sealed? Nope, the card tears. Ask us about a slide card instead, the blister just slides out of a folded card and back in again.

Do I need a new blister mold for every toy?

A new shape means a new mold, yes. But if your series has four figures that are roughly the same size, we can usually get them all into one blister and you save a fair bit.

What card finish works best for toys?

Gloss lamination makes bright character art pop and shrugs off fingerprints from all the handling. Matte suits collector lines that want a more grown-up look.
