Printed boxes for cold process, melt and pour and goat milk soap. We size them to your actual cut bars, in kraft or white paperboard, and add a window or a vent hole if you want the scent to come through. Market, online, local shop, works for all three.
Your time is very important to us so we have kept it short.
Handmade soap almost never comes out of the mold in neat even bars. One loaf gives you 4.2 ounces, the next gives 4.6, the edges are never quite square (that’s half the charm, to be fair), and it makes stock boxes a real pain, so our custom handmade soap boxes get sized around your actual cut with a bit of wiggle room built in.
Most of our soap folks are small makers. Farmers markets, Etsy, their own site, a couple of local boutiques. What do they want? A box that protects something soft and fragrant, looks natural, and carries the ingredients and weight without a separate label for every scent.
Measure a few bars from different batches and send us the biggest one. We add a small allowance on top so next month’s slightly fatter bar still slides in. A standard rectangle usually comes out around 3.5 by 2.5 by 1 inch, though plenty of makers do round, oval or thick-cut, and our soap box dimensions guide has the usual sizes.
Cold process keeps curing a little after it’s boxed. It drops some water weight, shrinks a touch, and in an airtight box you can get a faint film of moisture inside, so we’d add a small vent hole or a window, which lets the bar breathe and, honestly more important at a market table, lets people smell it.
Kraft wins most of the time.
The brown fiber just looks natural and small-batch, and it’s recyclable, but colors print a bit muted on it so we’d keep the art bold and simple, one or two inks can look great. White SBS paperboard is the one for photos or soft pastels, since it prints a lot brighter and sharper.
Some makers run both. Kraft for everyday bars, white with foil for the gift sets. One small thing: very oily bars can mark uncoated board over time, so for those a light matte coating on the inside is worth it.
Depends how you sell, really.
Shipping bars? The weight adds up fast, and our article on reducing shipping costs for heavy soap bars has a few practical tips. Have a look at our kraft soap boxes and window soap boxes too, or the full soap boxes and packaging range.
A bit, and that’s usually good, the box smells nice on the shelf. Keep strong ones like peppermint in their own boxes if you stack scents together.
Lots of makers do. One branded box plus a little scent sticker or stamp keeps costs down, and a new scent doesn’t need a new print run.
Often around 50 boxes depending on the style. Design help is free, you get a digital proof, and production takes 10 to 12 business days after you approve it.
Brands ordering these often look at luxury soap boxes, kraft soap boxes, custom soap boxes and custom printed soap boxes as well. You can see the full range in custom soap boxes & packaging, and our guide to soap box dimensions helps with sizing.
