Brown kraft boxes for handmade bars, cold process soaps, shampoo bars and soap gift sets. We do tuck end, sleeve and window styles, and print your logo and ingredient list in one color or a few. The board breathes a bit and can be recycled. Sized right? Your bar won’t slide around in the mail.
Your time is very important to us so we have kept it short.
Handmade soap and brown kraft board just go together. The natural look matches what’s inside, and kraft soap boxes tell a shopper something about your product before they’ve read a single word on the label.
Most of our soap customers are small makers. Think cold process soapers in a spare-room studio, the farmers market crowd, shampoo bar brands, plus a couple of spa and hotel suppliers. Most of them started out with a paper band round the bar, honestly, and then a boutique said yes and suddenly they needed a box that looked finished and didn’t let the corners get bashed in the post.
Nobody bleaches kraft board. That’s why it stays warm brown and feels a little bit rough under your thumb. It’s stiff enough to protect a bar from knocks and dents, and most kraft soap boxes are recyclable along with regular cardboard. If you want the background on the material, our article on what kraft paper is and why it’s used has it.
Fit is the thing to get right. Handmade bars vary a little from batch to batch, especially if you hand cut a loaf, so we size the box to your largest typical bar plus a small allowance. Too snug and a thick bar won’t slide in; too loose and it rattles and chips at the corners. Send us three or four bars and we’ll measure the spread.
Ink behaves differently on kraft. Brown shows through everything, so whatever color you pick comes out darker and duller than it would on white board. Our favorites on kraft? Black, white, a deep green, navy. Bright pink or pale yellow? Less so, unless we put a white ink layer underneath first. Many soap brands go with one or two ink colors and let the board do the rest, and honestly it often looks better that way.
Foil stamping in gold or copper reads well on kraft, and embossing a logo with no ink at all is a nice understated choice. We print with soy-based and water-based inks. Our design team sets up the dieline for free and will tell you if a color you’ve picked is going to disappear on the brown.
Fresh cold process bars keep curing and give off a little moisture, and some recipes with high oil content can leave faint grease marks on uncoated kraft over time. A small window or a couple of vent holes lets air move and lets shoppers smell the bar, which sells soap better than any line of text. Our window soap boxes show how that looks in practice.
If you sell gift sets, a sleeve over a tray holds two or three bars neatly. For other soap styles, see our handmade soap boxes or the full soap boxes and packaging range. Shipping heavy bars? We wrote up some tips on cutting shipping costs for heavy soap.
Minimums are low, often around 50 boxes depending on the style, and price per box drops as quantity goes up. You’ll see a digital proof before printing, and production is 10 to 12 business days after approval, with free ground shipping anywhere in the USA.
Very oily bars can leave light marks on uncoated kraft over time. A thin coating inside the box, or wrapping the bar in paper first, keeps it clean.
Yes, white ink prints well on kraft and gives a crisp, high contrast look. It’s also used as a base layer under bright colors.
Most 4 oz bars fit a box around 3.5 by 2.5 by 1.25 inches, but hand cut bars vary. Send us a few and we’ll size it properly.
