Stand in any pharmacy aisle for a minute and you’ll see the problem: little boxes and big boxes, “value” packs next to bulk packs, and every brand has a different number printed on the front, when all you really wanted to know was how many are in the thing.

So how many condoms come in a box? Honestly it depends on the brand and on where the box is being sold, but on a typical store shelf you’re going to see singles, 3-packs, 10s and 12s, plus the bigger value boxes further down.
For a brand owner, though, the count is only where packaging starts. Below we cover the usual pack sizes and then how we’d build a box around them.
How Many Condoms Usually Come in a Box?
There isn’t one standard count, and there probably never will be, because a gas station near a college wants a 3-pack by the register while a warehouse club wants a 36 that lasts somebody half a year.
What you’ll mostly find is singles and 3-count boxes at the small end, a few 5 or 6 packs, the 10 and 12-count boxes most people picture when they think “a box of condoms,” and then value packs of 24, 36 or more, though the exact numbers shift from one brand to the next and even between product lines inside one brand.
When a client comes to us with a packaging project, the number we really need from them is how many individually wrapped foils that particular box has to hold. Everything follows from it.
Choosing the Right Box Size
There’s no universal size here either, so we always size from the real foil packets and never from a drawing, which means somebody grabs one with a ruler and gets the length and width and thickness, and then we decide together how many go in and how they sit (flat in a stack, standing up in a row, or in a folded strip).
Then add a little room for the board and the closure, maybe 2 mm each way. Too big rattles. Too tight and whoever’s packing them on a Friday afternoon will hate you.
Standard Condom Box Dimensions For Reference
Curious about real numbers? We measured a few off the shelf once out of habit, and a 12-pack ran about 3.5 to 4 inches long by 2.5 to 3 wide and roughly an inch deep (a bit less on some brands). Each foil was close to 2.5 inches square and sealed all round, since air and light and moisture all wear latex down over time. A 100-pack is about paperback size. Online orders mostly ship in a plain brown box with nothing on it, for obvious reasons.

Paperboard is our usual pick for retail cartons since it’s light, cheap to ship and takes print really well, and that matters on a condom box because you’re fitting instructions, warnings and a barcode on a panel smaller than a business card.
Kraft Paperboard
Kraft gives a natural brown look that some newer brands love because it feels a lot less clinical than glossy white, but colors print darker on it, so if your brand color is a pale pastel we’d want you to see a proof first.
Corrugated Packaging
Corrugated boxes are for the shipping side, the outer case holding maybe 48 retail boxes that gets thrown around in a warehouse and a truck so the little cartons inside show up clean on the shelf.

Depending on where you sell, the artwork will usually need your brand name and logo, the product name with a short description, the count, instructions, any required warnings, a barcode and manufacturer details, plus whatever else your market asks for, which is a lot for a box smaller than a deck of cards, so we lay it out panel by panel instead of just shrinking the font.

The classic folding carton with a flap at each end, light and cheap, and fine for nearly every regular retail pack.

A printed sleeve slides over an inner tray that you push out like an old matchbox, and people seem to enjoy that little motion more than you’d expect.
Drawer Boxes
For a gift set or a promo collection a drawer box feels much more premium, though for an everyday 3-pack it’s overkill.

How Pack Quantity Affects Packaging Cost
The count changes the spec. The spec changes the price.
Size and board move it most, then print coverage, colors, finishes, die cuts and inserts, so a small tuck carton and a big presentation box are nowhere near each other on price. And the run size, obviously, because a thousand boxes cost a lot less each than a hundred, though you can start low (often around 50 depending on the style) and the foil size plus a rough count is plenty for us to quote from.
