Custom mascara boxes are slim tuck end cartons cut to your tube and wand, printed with the shade name, volume and directions. SBS or kraft, soft-touch or foil or spot UV if you want, and an insert if the tube still rattles.
Your time is very important to us so we have kept it short.
Mascara tubes are long and thin and weigh nothing, so in a box that’s even a little too big they spin and slide and rattle, and a shopper will shake the box on the shelf (they always do) and decide it feels cheap. Our custom mascara boxes get cut to the exact length and width of your tube. It sits still. The box feels full.
Indie makeup brands order these, plus private label lines, subscription boxes and salons with their own products. Lots of them start on stock white cartons. Then it hits them that the box is the only thing a shopper sees before buying.
Cap on, measure base to top. Then the widest point, and on mascara that’s often the cap since it flares out a bit past the tube. We’d leave a millimeter or two of play, enough that the tube slides in without a fight but not so much it knocks around.
Most people go reverse tuck end, flap at the top and flap at the bottom on opposite sides, cheap to make and quick to pack. Selling in pharmacies or beauty supply? Add a hang tab up top so it goes on a peg. And for an eye set, a wider box with an insert can hold mascara and liner together, a lot like our eyeliner packaging boxes.
About an inch. That’s your front panel.
So the brand name and product type go there, big and clear, and pretty much everything else moves to the sides, because people read the front from across the aisle and only turn the box over once it’s in their hand. Our cosmetic box sizes guide shows typical mascara carton dimensions.
Put the formula name (lengthening, volumizing, waterproof) up near the top, since that’s the bit still showing when boxes are stacked in a display. Ingredients and directions on the back. Our design team lays it all out free, checks the tiny type for print problems, and sends you a digital proof first.
Soft-touch is the one everybody asks for on mascara. It feels smooth, kind of like the tube. Gloss if your colors are loud, spot UV logo on matte if you want a quiet shine, gold or silver foil for a pricier line, and holographic foil honestly looks great on younger, playful brands.
SBS paperboard is the standard and prints the sharpest color. Kraft works for clean beauty with a one-color print. Most of our cosmetics clients order other bits too, so check our lip gloss boxes for a matching set and the whole cosmetic boxes range.
Not if it’s sized right. Glass or heavier tubes, we’d add a small card insert at the base so the tube doesn’t slide to one end.
Yes, a slim one down the front. Worth it if your tube design is the selling point.
Often around 50 boxes depending on the style, cheaper per box as quantity goes up. Production takes 10 to 12 business days after you approve the proof, ground shipping in the USA is free. Request a quote with your tube size.
