Custom Motherboard Packaging Boxes

ATX, Micro-ATX or Mini-ITX, we’ll box it. The insert grabs the board by the edges only, and the cables and screws and manual get their own little spot so they’re not sitting on top of anything. Full-color spec printing on the back, free design help and a digital proof before anything runs.

Description

A motherboard is an awkward thing to box. It’s flat and fairly light, but it’s covered in pins, capacitors and a CPU socket that bends if you breathe on it wrong. Our custom motherboard packaging boxes are made for PC hardware brands, system builders and resellers who ship boards on their own and need every pin to arrive straight.

The usual problem is a box that’s only close enough. A board that slides a quarter inch will tap its I/O shield against the wall a few hundred times between the warehouse and the buyer, and the first person to notice is your customer, holding a bent header and filling out a return form.

Custom Motherboard Packaging Boxes Sized to the Form Factor

We start from the form factor. ATX is roughly 12 by 9.6 inches. Micro-ATX, about 9.6 square, Mini-ITX more like 6.7. Easy so far, but then you’ve got chunky heatsinks and M.2 shields and those tall VRM coolers that push the depth up, so honestly, just mail us a sample board (beats a spec sheet any day) and we’ll draw the dieline around it with a bit of room for the anti-static bag.

Then the accessory kit, which is always more stuff than you’d think, a couple of SATA cables and the Wi-Fi antenna and a bag of tiny M.2 screws, a driver stick, the manual, and none of that should ever end up lying on the board. We’d put it under or beside the board. Lift-out tray, usually.

Inserts That Keep the Board Still

Most of the motherboard boxes we make use a die-cut paperboard or corrugated insert that grips the board along its edges, where there’s nothing fragile. Board goes in its bag, bag goes in the insert, lid closes without touching anything. Simple. If the lid presses on the tallest heatsink when you close it, the insert is too shallow, and we’d much rather catch that on a sample than on your customer’s desk.

For heavier workstation and server boards we usually suggest an E-flute corrugated tray, because thin paperboard can bow under the weight. Our keyboard packaging boxes use the same idea of edge support for long, heavy products that can’t take pressure in the middle.

Printing a Motherboard Box That Builders Actually Read

PC builders read the box. Every panel of it. Chipset, socket, what RAM it takes, M.2 slot count, is there Wi-Fi or not, they’ll check it all standing in the aisle, so we’d stick a spec grid and a rear I/O drawing and the barcode on the back and save the front for the big board render and your logo. We print full color with soy-based or water-based inks on SBS paperboard, which keeps small spec type sharp.

Finishes are your call. Gaming lines we work with like matte plus spot UV on the board image, and a silver foil model name if they’re feeling fancy. Layout is on us, free, and we’ll flag blurry images or text that’s creeping too close to a fold.

Shipping and Ordering Your Motherboard Boxes

A retail motherboard box isn’t really a shipper on its own. If you sell direct, most brands drop the printed box into a plain outer carton, and you’ll find options for that in our electronics packaging range. Our guide to single, double and triple wall corrugated explains which outer suits which load.

Minimums are low, often around 50 boxes depending on the style, and the price per box drops as the quantity goes up. You’ll get a digital proof first and can ask for a physical sample before the bulk run. Standard production is 10 to 12 business days after proof approval, with free ground shipping anywhere in the USA. Send us your board dimensions and we’ll quote it.

Custom Motherboard Packaging Boxes FAQs

Board and accessories in one box, does that work?

Sure, we usually do two levels. Board on top in its insert, cables and screws and the manual underneath, and nothing leans on the components.

Should the insert be paperboard or corrugated?

For ATX and smaller boards a die-cut paperboard insert usually does the job. Heavy server or workstation boards do better on E-flute corrugated, which won’t bow under the weight.

Can I print a full spec sheet on the back panel?

You can, and most brands do. The team lays out the chipset, socket, memory support and port diagram, then checks that the small type stays readable at print size.
