Description

Brown box. Logo on the lid. Tape. It’s the most common package on any porch in America, and there’s a reason. Kraft corrugated boxes are strong, cheap for what they do, and honest looking. No pretending. Plenty of brands like that.

Online orders, wholesale cases, subscription boxes, bags of coffee going out the door, a set of four ceramic mugs, a box of wrenches, we’ve seen kraft carry pretty much all of it. Small brands like them because a one color logo on kraft looks good without needing a big print budget.

What’s Inside Kraft Corrugated Boxes

Think of a sandwich. Two flat sheets of liner, and in between a wavy layer called the flute that’s glued in, and those little waves work like tiny arches, which is honestly the whole reason a box can take a stack of other boxes on top and still cushion a bump. On kraft, the outside liner is just unbleached brown paper. Hence the color.

Flute size changes a lot. Want a mailer that looks like a retail box with sharp print? Thin E-flute. Most of our plain shipping cartons go out in B-flute, a little thicker and tougher. Double-wall (two layers of flute) is what you want for heavy or fragile items, and triple wall is for really big loads like machine parts. Our guide on single, double and triple wall boxes breaks down when each one makes sense.

Choosing a Style: RSC, Mailer or Something Else

The regular slotted container (an RSC, the classic four-flap shipping box) is the cheapest and most versatile. It’s what we’d suggest for wholesale cartons or anything heading to a warehouse. For direct-to-customer orders, a roll end mailer with a tuck front opens nicely and doesn’t need much tape. Our custom mailer boxes come in kraft too.

Size them close. Carriers charge for dimensional weight, so a box with three inches of air on every side costs you real money over a year of shipping. Here’s a quick example: a box one inch smaller on each side can drop a parcel into a lower billing bracket. Our post on how box dimensions affect shipping cost runs through the math.

Printing on Kraft Corrugated Board

Brown board messes with ink, kind of obviously. Black or navy or a deep forest green look fantastic on it, but a pale yellow, or white, sinks in and goes dull, unless we lay down a white base under it first. Many brands lean into it with a single black or dark logo and leave the rest plain. Clean and cheap.

You can print inside too, which is a nice touch on a mailer. We use soy-based and water-based inks, and most kraft corrugated boxes are recyclable. Our designers set up the dieline and lay out your artwork for free, checking your files for print problems before you see a digital proof. Want to drop-test one with your product? Ask for a physical sample first.

Ordering Shipping Cartons

Minimums are low, often around 50 boxes depending on the style, and price per box drops as you order more. Most digital print jobs come with no die or plate charges. Standard production is 10 to 12 business days after proof approval, rush is available on request, and ground shipping is free anywhere in the USA. Kraft Corrugated Boxes FAQs

Single wall or double wall for my product?

Single wall covers most e-commerce orders up to roughly 20 to 30 pounds. Go double wall for heavy, dense or fragile items, or anything that gets stacked high in a warehouse.

Can you print white on kraft?

We can, but it usually takes a second white layer before it looks solid. A dark ink? Bolder, and cheaper too.

Can people recycle kraft corrugated boxes?

Most of them, yeah. Peel the tape off and toss it in the curbside bin, that works in most towns.

Pair It With

Plenty of customers order this alongside black mailer boxes, colored mailer boxes, cardboard mailer boxes and mailer cartons. More styles are in corrugated shipping boxes, and mailer box dimensions covers the common sizes.
